Rain takes the weekend off

Weekend forecast from NWS-Shreveport.

Mother Nature appears to be taking the weekend to dry her tears. Welcomed news for the Southeast.

A much needed break from the rain will time up perfectly for our weekend plans from Texas to Georgia. The same airmass that brought frigid weather to the Northern Plains and Midwest will bring drier air and sunshine to the South. A bit chilly to start Friday and Saturday morning with cool 50s and 60s in the afternoon. Sunday will bring a return of some spring-like warmth with 70s.

7 day potential rainfall totals from the Weather Prediction Center.

7 day potential rainfall totals from the Weather Prediction Center.

The next system to threaten rain will move in late Sunday or on Monday across Louisiana and spread northeast. We don’t currently see any Big Bad storms and rainfall totals range between an additional 1-2” over the next 7 days.
