Hurricane Warnings Issued for Florida

As Tropical Storm Idalia churns in the Yucatan Channel, Tropical Storm and Hurricane Warnings have been hoisted for the west coast of Florida.

With the 10AM Advisory on Idalia, the National Hurricane Center says Idalia has pumped the brakes on strengthening at the moment, but all signs point to an environment that will allow the storm to intensify in the Gulf of Mexico. Very warm ocean temperatures and a passage over the Gulf Loop will gives more than enough energy to work with.

The National Hurricane Center forecast track take Idalia into Florida near Gainesville as a category 3 hurricane with winds of 115mph on Wednesday morning. Storm surge is also a concern over a much wider area. There is concern for rapid intensification of Idalia in the Gulf of Mexico. So far, the storm has overperformed most model guidance. So this situation is something that should be monitored closely for interests along the Gulf Coast of Florida.
