Tropical Trouble for The Gulf?

The tropics have come alive recently with 3 named storms last weekend and several new areas of interests as we close this week. You’re probably starting to see the buzz of a system in the Gulf of Mexico next week. So let’s take a look.

GFS or American Model

The GFS has just come onboard with the idea of developing this system at all. For days now, the EURO model has been picking something up while the GFS hasn’t noticed it much. Now that it is picking it up, it thinks it’ll become a hurricane in The Gulf and make a line for the Florida Panhandle late week. Likely looking at a category 1 with the GFS depiction.

EURO or European Model

The EURO has been picking up on this for about 2 days already and has been rather consistent with its thinking. The EURO takes the system in the Florida Peninsula as a tropical storm instead.

A few more models from spaghetti plots

It’s very early and the system is extremely disorganized for now. So models are still just taking a stab in the dark at the moment. But, chances are rather high for development over the weekend. So I’d keep an eye on it. It’s not time to panic for anyone just yet.
