Wet Along the Gulf Coast

You’re busy. You don’t have a whole bunch of time to go searching out information about the weather, and when you do get that information, you need it to be quick and easy to understand. So, one of the goals I have with this new daily blog is to see if I can tell you the main weather story in just a single picture.

This is today’s picture. It’s from the Weather Prediction Center run by NOAA. This is the Quantitative Precipitation Forecast for the next three days. It’s NOAA’s estimate of how much rain we’re going to get between now and the start of the weekend.

Notice they are looking at up to 1 1/2” of rain from around New Orleans to Tallahassee. There’s also an 1 1/2” or more coming to the Tampa area. That’s pretty much the story for the next few days.

There’s a storm system traveling across the Deep South today from Mississippi up to the Carolinas. But, those storms are not expected to become severe. There’s another system that will travel from Corpus Christi in South Texas up along the coast to Atlanta Friday and Saturday. Again, we’re not expecting Big Bad storms out of that system either.

So, this is pretty much the weather story. It’s going to be wet, and some areas along the coast are going to get a decent amount of rain. But, that’s about it.

I hope the rest of your day goes great!
