Some Storms Possible for South Florida

SPC_Saturday.jpeg

Ingredients are coming together for a brief severe weather chance for those living in extreme South Florida for Friday night and Saturday.

While the rest of The Deep South will just deal with some additional rain on Friday, there’s a small piece of energy that will take advantage of the warmer temperatures in South Florida to produce some storms.

The Storm Prediction Center has a small section of Florida, that includes Miami, highlighted in a Slight Risk for severe storms Friday night into Saturday. A Slight Risk is a 2 out of 5 on the scale. It looks like the primary threat from these storms will be damaging winds, but a few brief tornadoes may also be possible. These likely won’t be the big tornadoes you see in Oklahoma, but rather quick, small tornadoes.

We don’t see this being a big, bad severe weather outbreak, but some isolated damage may be something to watch for.
