A line of Big Bad storms for Tuesday

Adjustments.jpeg

Another round of Big Bad storms looks likely from Oklahoma into the Gulf Coast states Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning.

The area of greatest risk includes the Enhanced Risk (3 out of 5 on the scale). That is the area shaded in orange. This severe weather setup favors more of a straight line wind threat, and perhaps some more hail. The hail threat probably won’t be quite as bad as the last event that went through the Shreveport-Bossier area. As with any Big Bad weather, we can’t completely rule out tornadoes, but that should be a rather isolated threat.

We’re looking for storms to develop in Oklahoma during the mid to late afternoon on Tuesday. That’s where the biggest hail threat would be.

The storms would grow into a solid line and transition into more of a strong wind threat as they continue southward. Arriving between the I-30 and I-20 corridors around midnight Tuesday night.

This line of storms may hold together long enough to impact the early morning hours of Wednesday along the I-10 corridor of Louisiana. Given the time of day (around dawn Wednesday), the level of severity may be lower due to less energy and heating.

We will be watching the models all day, and will let you know if anything changes. As always, if the weather turns Big and Bad, we will launch the Live Big Bad Weather Blog to guide you through the storms in real time!
