Tropical Storm Alberto Forms in Gulf of Mexico

The first named storm of the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season, Alberto, has formed in the southwest corner of the Gulf of Mexico.

Alberto is not expected to strengthen much before landfall in northern Mexico, but the tropical storm will bring tons of heavy rain to Mexico and southern Texas. Winds are sustained at 40mph with some higher gusts, and only a brief period of strengthening to perhaps up to 45mph winds is expected at this time.

Tropical Storm Warnings are posted for Texas from just south of Galveston to Brownsville and continue into northern Mexico.
